Explain to someone about SharePoint, and what the SharePoint platform can do is not an easy job. SharePoint does not represent a regular program that will start with a few clicks on your computer and get super-ready solutions that you can instantly apply to your business, but it is web-based collaborative platform for managing document flows across the organization. (business processes, real-time co-authoring, content sharing, documents versions, alerts, projects features …) This platform allows the organization to create team, project and personal sites, BI, create tasks, custom forms and workflows… Many organizations use SharePoint platform, as the right solution for Intranet and Internet site. So in just a few clicks, you can share content with others, users can track content that interests them, access the knowledge base or communicate with other employees in the organization.

With SharePoint, I first met quite accidentally during of my studies while reading summer internship ads. In addition to the standard web-based knowledge, the company wants to hire IT students and in internship ads they said that knowladge of SharePoint platform is big benefit for potentional student. For me SharePoint was unknown at that moment. After searching on the Internet, I managed to come up with some basic information related to this platform. From that moment, I use every day to find out something new or make a SharePoint solution. That’s how it all started.
People often have big expectation about SharePoint platform. They expect solutions for all the business problems they have. They expect this platform to replace ERP, CRM and SAP solutions. Does Sharepoint do that ?!
The answer to this question is not easy and simple. On the SharePoint platform, you can implement a part of the process that offers other solutions, but you can also use web services to communicate with those platforms, so you can use data from other systems and display or store them on SharePoint. Large organizations are increasingly applying “zero email policy”, and SharePoint is used to create an internal portal, for secure storage, organizing, sharing, and accessing information from all devices. In addition to these features, organizations use the SharePoint platform as the basis for their external site, so many SharePoints are compared with WordPress, Joomla, Drupal and similar platforms. In relation to these platforms, SharePoint is much more than the platform on which you have created your website. It simply represents a way of communication within the organization, content sharing, business intelligence … etc. In just a few clicks of Excel tables, Visio drawing or InfoPath forms can become part of SharePoint.+
